Nina Schmidbaur, lmsw
The goal of my work is helping children, adolescents, and adults fulfill their highest potential and lead happier lives. My experience includes working with children and adolescents who are struggling to express emotions appropriately, having challenges in school (bullying, academics, anxiety), defiant towards caregivers and other adults, gender identity expression, issues with attention, impulsive behaviors, internet and gaming addictions, phobias and disordered eating. Some parents struggle to understand the motivation behind their child’s behavior, one of many common issues that I have helped many families overcome.
I offer trauma-focused strengths-based counseling to individuals, couples, and families. When working with children, families will be engaged in play therapy sessions to encourage bonding, communication, and growth. With adolescents and adults, we will focus on replacing negative thinking with positive self-talk and adapting positive coping mechanisms.
I provide a calm, empathetic, and comforting presence while guiding you on the journey to achieving your goals. While I understand that the past can haunt us, we will focus on the present and moving past barriers that may have held you back. We will be focused on progress as you explore your deepest self in a safe space that allows for healing to unfold.
