naimah muhammad, Lmsw

Naimah (Ny-e-ma) Muhammad (she/her) sees the world and her practice through a social-justice lens. She leads with the belief that her clients know themselves and their world best, and can overcome many traumas in life with the support of a therapist. Naimah has served and supported families who have experienced Foster and Preventative care, families going through transitional periods, as well as individuals including children, adolescents, and adults. Naimah’s practice is empathic and encourages her clients to be their true selves while healing with grace. Naimah finds true enjoyment and empowerment through listening, and she provides a brave space to all her clients so they may process their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She also incorporates CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, and Strength-Based therapy into her work.

Being a woman of color in the mental health field is important to Naimah, and she wants to help educate and break the stigma of mental health in the black community as she understands how systems affect everyday life, and how overwhelming they can be to navigate. Naimah holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Adelphi University, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Black Studies from SUNY New Paltz.
