Carrie Rubury, LMSW
Carrie Rubury, LMSW (she/her) has built her career accompanying individuals through moments of transformation and believes deeply in each person’s inherent power and strength to heal and to create meaningful change. Through the dynamic, collaborative therapeutic connection, and a relational perspective, her practice is rooted in the resiliency of people, both individually and collectively. Carrie is committed to showing up authentically for clients, working collaboratively to create space for both acceptance and change. Her orientation places an individual within the complex, dynamic context of the world, exploring biological, social, political, and psychodynamic forces that shape human development.
As a therapist, Carrie has worked in community mental health settings with young adults and adults navigating various challenges, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and trauma. She has been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Prolonged Exposure (PE) - a trauma-focused therapy. Carrie earned her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Before transitioning to clinical social work, Carrie was involved in social change across various industries, including global health. Her experience working internationally in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa fostered her ability to establish meaningful relationships with others across cultural differences. Her work provided an opportunity to understand and participate in social change at various levels, from individual to systemic.
