Shane Dzimian, LMSW
Shane (they/them) is a queer/trans-nonbinary clinician who specializes in working with individuals working to manage anxiety, adjustment to life transitions, and interpersonal relationships of all kinds. Shane understands the importance of providing a safe space for visibility, self-exploration, and inclusion; and is continuously exploring ways to cultivate this environment for each individual who walks through their door. While they enjoy working with varieties of populations, Shane often finds themself providing therapy to young adults who identify as LGBTQ+/poly/kink oriented as well as neurodivergent; two communities with whom they share connection. Breaking away from dominant culture expectations and learning how to 'unmask safely' are two areas of importance Shane focuses on throughout the therapeutic experience. They make conscious efforts to continue learning about and implementing practices of therapy through an anti-oppressive lens.
Shane has had a variety of experience working in the therapy field which has allowed them to expand their practice and skill. They have worked in an intensive outpatient setting, group practices, and most recently at a university providing therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. As a social worker, Shane draws upon the practices of Internal Family Systems (IFS) to assist clients in the exploration of self and the different parts that make up oneself. They offer support through a strength's based and compassionate lens, often blending the work of IFS with other methods such as psychodrama and narrative therapy. Shane offers both short term and long term options of therapy for all clients.
