Ford Fishman, LMSW
Ford Fishman (he/him) practices psychodynamic therapy within a relational framework to foster insight, shift patterns, and cultivate greater ease in oneself and one’s relationships. Ford recognizes the enduring impact of intergenerational paradigms and early life experiences on individuals' relationships with themselves and others. Ford places a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a secure container for clients to explore interpersonal dynamics, bring unconscious beliefs to light, and experiment with new ways of relating. His approach engages with the effects of trauma, encompassing interpersonal transgressions, systemic oppression, and intergenerational trauma.
Before stepping into the role of a psychotherapist, Ford volunteered in mutual aid and abolitionist spaces as well as with a peer support crisis hotline serving trans communities. He integrates these experiences into his clinical practice, emphasizing harm reduction and community-oriented approaches within individual therapy. His professional clinical experience includes individual and group therapy with queer and trans youth, as well as bereavement therapy with clients of all ages. Ford is currently available to see adult and adolescent clients as well as couples in New York State, offering both in-person and telehealth sessions.
