Vanessa Jacobs, MHC-LP, NCC®
Vanessa Jacobs (she/her) draws upon somatics, existential thought, psychodynamic theory, and narrative therapy to work collaboratively alongside clients to illuminate and explore their inner worlds toward a state of liberation at various junctures of life.
Vanessa sees the therapeutic space as an opportunity to survey one's life through several lenses in order to find stride, mindful that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are best understood when environmental, systemic, and multicultural climates are brought to light. She uses this approach to help support her client through anxiety, depression, and trauma. Vanessa believes the adage "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" is applicable in this restorative context and beyond.
After completing her BFA in Architectural Design, Vanessa went on to work in several fields, weaving an integrative sense of creativity and curiosity throughout her range of experience; values which extend into her process with clients today. Vanessa was an active member of Northwestern University’s Neuroscience Integration Lab where she collaborated with peers to define Neuroeducation in Neurocounseling, recognizing the mind, body, and spirit as integral facets of the human condition. She received her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and is a National Board Certified counselor (NCC).
